This week I offered to help a friend reupholster an old chair she had. After a little hard work, I ended up with this to give back to her.

It definitely did not start out looking like that. When I first arrived to her house, this is what greeted me in her garage.
It was purple and literally had a bag over it.
We decided to spray paint it with some high gloss brown spray paint and recover it with some beautiful fabric she picked out.
I trimmed the seam areas with matching red trim simply using hot glue. It covers up any imperfections and makes it look pretty.
I definitely think it's a huge improvement!
That is an amazing job. I would love to see a step by step tutorial. Very professional look. I'm glad I found your blog at The Shady Porch party. I'm a new follower too, so I can keep in touch. I would love if you stopped by and followed back on LF and GFC. Nice to meet you, Lori
ReplyDeleteThanks Lori! I have a few more upholstery projects in the wings and will do tutorials on those!
ReplyDeleteWow, you did such a great job! Too bad you couldn't have left it purple, but still, it's awesome!
ReplyDeleteDid your friend buy this at Prince's garage sale?!
ReplyDeleteLove the shape but glad to see the new color and that fabulous fabric! The trim does really give it a professional look and glad to see no blood was shed (although it would have been worth it)!

That little rocker has never been so happy! Love that fabric choice.
ReplyDeleteWhat type of brown paint did you use for the frame? You made it look so lovely!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog through Southern Hospitality. Looking around your site, I saw some items with beautiful fabric on them. By chance do you get it online or some place local? I'm looking for some new and different fabric and just can't find much in my area.
ReplyDeleteThanks and keep up the great work!
Well that is a million times better! What fun to be able to do the project together:)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your Southern Hospitality feature!

I would LOVE to know where you found that fabric! It matches my living room perfectly and should be featured on a chair, a lamp or pillow (or maybe all 3)...
ReplyDeleteThis looks so good. I actually just picked up a chair that looks just like this but is not a rocker. My daughter (22) wants me to paint it teal with feed sacks as the upholstery for her new house. We should have just traded since hers is the colors you needed. LOL
ReplyDeleteHoly moley I love that! The colors and design on the upholstery are incredible! This rocker is a feast for the eyes! You did an excellent job! Now I want one. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great transformation! I have a couple of chairs that I rescued from the thrift store, but I can't find the courage to tackle them!? Life to the full, Melissa @ DaisyMaeBelle
ReplyDeleteThe chair looks great! Would you mind sharing what kind of spray paint you used? I have a small rocker I'd love to try it on.
ReplyDeleteLove the brown color. What color of spray paint did you use?
ReplyDeleteyour chair is absolutely gorgeous, just got into diy, will get supply once my husband leaves the house, trying to find places to hide stuff, love your blog
