Some exciting news!!!

Some of you may have noticed I've been a little absent lately. There's a very good reason why, and I'm so excited to finally be able to share the news with you.

For the past 5 months, life as I know it has gone through some major changes....

As of today, I'm 21 weeks pregnant!!!

Our little girl is expected to arrive in June, and Jesse and I couldn't be more excited about this new chapter in our lives.
My apologies for the selfie. It took me a loooong time to grow even the tiniest of bumps, and it's a nice feeling to finally have some visible proof that there's a tiny person in there. :)

Just to keep it real, this pregnancy has been rough on me. I've struggled with all day morning sickness up until about week 15, and there were months at a time when showering and putting on sweatpants seemed like a major accomplishment. But, I've come to accept my limitations and just be grateful that my body is doing what it needs to do, even if it means I have to feel awful all of the time. I know it will be so worth it in the end.

So, rest assured....even if I have to occasionally take a little time off to hibernate in sweatpants, I'll always be back eventually.
I'm sending you guys all my love and gratitude for your sweet emails over the past few months. Quite a few of you were able to pick up on the fact that I wasn't feeling all that great. So, not only does that surprise me (because you guys were totally able to pick up what I was trying so hard NOT to put down) but it also totally humbles me to know that you care about my little life. Thank you.

Also, before I go, Tootie would like to let you know that she is just overjoyed about all of this exciting news.
You can just see it in her eyes.
I took that instagram pic over a month ago, and thought it was pretty funny that the Christmas tree was still up. Well, it's STILL up and it's getting funnier/more worrisome to outsiders by the day.
I'm hoping to take it down before my due date in June.
I'm a man with a plan.

That's all for today! 'Til next time!

  7. Congratulations to you and Jesse! I imagine that as she was feeling acute morning sickness, the lovely Duchess of Cambridge lounged on the sofa in sweats too, so channel your inner royal and follow suit. Also, remember that you are GROWING A HUMAN and that's a huge deal so it's ok to keep your tree up and hang some baby shoes & a pacifier on it and call it the 'baby tree'. And maybe later, if you're feeling it up to it, we'll get to witness the transformation of the baby's room!

  17. Congratulations! Your bump is awesomely sweet! I feel your pain on waiting to have one to show, I think I was about 6/7 months gone before mine appeared. Now they have these 'baby on board' badges in London to help expectant mums let others know they are pregnant so they can get a seat on public transport and stuff!

  22. Awww...congrats! Just did a "she's having a baby dance"--kinda like a Hammer Dance/the Carlton mashup. You know, in case you need a visual of the craziness. I hope you got all of the yuckies out of the way and it's smooth sailing from now on for you.

  23. Yay! Congrats!!!! Can't wait to see the nursery. How's that for pressure haha. I started planning my daughter's nursery the day I found out the sex. I worked so hard and was so proud of myself. Of course, she didn't sleep in there until she was 9 months old ;)

  28. Sorry if posted twice... the computer wigged out. Sooooo fun! I'm expecting my first (baby girl!) in April and also didn't show till after 20 weeks. :) Ha ha! I hope it's so fun and that you enjoy every moment, now that the rough patch is over.

  29. Take care of yourself! Such happy news -- a June baby. Daughters are wonderful!
I have missed your hammer dance and delightful projects. Thank you for sharing your delightful projects.

  30. Congratulations. You'll not remember any distress once you hold her. I just got the rest of my decorations and tree put away two days ago, and at 68 trust me...I'm not pregnant. I'm sure Tootie will be a big help. We had a pure black cat and when I finally allowed a babysitter so we could go out, she said she would not babysit for us again because Candy just stared at her the whole time...followed her everywhere and tried to get between her and the baby when she held the baby She also attacked to poor mailman because he tried to pull her blanket down so he could see her...that was HER baby girl, lol. I really miss having babies around. Best wishes to all. God bless.

  35. 24/7 morning sickness, three months of it is even worse. I feel your pain. Mine ended about a month ago! Embrace the food cravings. They more than make up for the morning sickness :) congrats!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Congrats!! Morning sickness is the worst. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and enjoy. Can't wait to see a nursery!! ;)

  37. I have missed you so! And ecstatic it was for such a great reason (the baby, not the morning sickness). Love to all the members of your family! Hang in there and do (or don't) do what you have to do. We're all here for you!

  38. Awww, congrats!!! Best of luck to you 😘👶

  39. A beautiful "selfie" of a glowing mother-to-be... congrats to you both!

I do 'feel' for you with the problem of prolonged sickness. With my first, it was 24 hours a day for ALL 9 months.... I was miserable and looked it... never the 'glowing' look like you have!... But my delivery was a piece of cake! I shocked doc and nurses with only 3 pushes, so it was definitely worth all I went through those long, miserable months. I hope your delivery is easy peasy, too, because of all you've been through so far. Take good care :)

  44. OMG! OMG! OMG!!! I was wondering when you two were going to decide to become Ah~May~Zing parents... And the new sweetie kitty, she's adorable (by the way, after December 25th the Christmas Tree is known as a "Festive Tree") !! I am beyond thrilled for you guys & I wish you much happiness! May the "barfing" stop, at any time of the day... you are so tiny & you could afford to gain several pounds! I SO wish I could send you my extra weight & I've got quite a few to share! Do What YOU need to do for yourself... We'll wait here for you! All we ask is that you post lots of pix! I send you Blessings of Health, Happiness, Love & Success~

  45. Congratulations!! How wonderful!
I’m 22 weeks pregnant (on Tuesday) with my 3rd. I feel much like you -- sweatpants and showers are like “wow watch out world I did something today, now let me go back to bed.” I’m still dealing with nausea all day long (why on earth did they name it morning sickness!?) -- I didn’t have it so bad or so long with my first two. :( This pregnancy has been rough. I hope we both get to feeling better soon!
You look absolutely adorable. My belly is already like 4 times the size of yours lol.

We just had our baby girl January 5th after a really long battle of ups and downs (sharing our story currently on www.rosyrill.com) and it's the most amazing experience ever. 62. Congratulations! I also had all day sickness until about week 16. It was like having the flu every day for 3 months. It got better but I still didn't have much energy for the rest of the pregnancy. And then, after my sweet little girl was born last July, I soon felt like my old self. Hang in there! It will all be worth it! :)

  71. Congrats on your new Baby! I am new to your blog and I am inspired! I am also expecting a baby girl in may. ( my 2nd one) my first is 8 years old. This time around my energy levels are high, even when I do feel tired, I can't stop and have been arranging and re- arranging every single little space in my house and that is how I came across your blog. Yesterday, I began my first big project. I found a rocking chair in a garage sale for $20 but it was light brown and I wAnted a white one. Inspired by the many chairs and furniture you have re done, I decided it to give it a try. I used spray primer, could not find the brand you used at my local HD, so I had to buy a restolium, i believe it is. I also decided to buy a sample of the french grey you used for one of your chairs. In the picture, the chair looks white to me. But now that I see the color it is a light grey. I have not painted it yet, but wanted to ask you if you think I will be ok with his french gray for my rocking chair. The pads will be ligh pink. I would truly appreciate your response. And thanks for inspired so many people! You are awesome!

  75. Virginia, what exciting news! First time commenter on ANY blog EVER! I am the wallflower who is avidly reading along and sharing your pain and joy, but too shy to comment...but I just have to say congrats to you and Jesse. I have really been relating to you recently, as I have been struggling with all day M/S, too, and we lost a beloved fur-baby in November. I feel like you articulate exactly how I feel sometimes! I also have to say I love that you share both the UPS and downs of life. You are much more "real" than some bloggers who post only perfect pictures of their home an family, and leave readers feeling like they are failing at life. And oh my goodness...I can't WAIT to see nursery pics, and the baby pics to follow! Hopefully she gets your amazing smile :) xoxo
