Some of you may have noticed I've been a little absent lately. There's a very good reason why, and I'm so excited to finally be able to share the news with you.
For the past 5 months, life as I know it has gone through some major changes....
Our little girl is expected to arrive in June, and Jesse and I couldn't be more excited about this new chapter in our lives.
My apologies for the selfie. It took me a loooong time to grow even the tiniest of bumps, and it's a nice feeling to finally have some visible proof that there's a tiny person in there. :)
Just to keep it real, this pregnancy has been rough on me. I've struggled with all day morning sickness up until about week 15, and there were months at a time when showering and putting on sweatpants seemed like a major accomplishment. But, I've come to accept my limitations and just be grateful that my body is doing what it needs to do, even if it means I have to feel awful all of the time. I know it will be so worth it in the end.
So, rest assured....even if I have to occasionally take a little time off to hibernate in sweatpants, I'll always be back eventually.
I'm sending you guys all my love and gratitude for your sweet emails over the past few months. Quite a few of you were able to pick up on the fact that I wasn't feeling all that great. So, not only does that surprise me (because you guys were totally able to pick up what I was trying so hard NOT to put down) but it also totally humbles me to know that you care about my little life. Thank you.
Also, before I go, Tootie would like to let you know that she is just overjoyed about all of this exciting news.
You can just see it in her eyes.
I took that instagram pic over a month ago, and thought it was pretty funny that the Christmas tree was still up. Well, it's STILL up and it's getting funnier/more worrisome to outsiders by the day.
I'm hoping to take it down before my due date in June.
I'm a man with a plan.
That's all for today! 'Til next time!
Oh so exciting for you & Jesse!! I'm not going to lie, as we approach our 3rd wedding anniversary & are expecting a nephew this spring, I am starting to experience baby fever big time!!
ReplyDeleteTrying to hold off for another year & 1/2 til the hubs is out of school, so I'll just live vicariously--many pictures, please!

Thanks so much Jaclyn! xo
DeleteAhh that's amazing news, congratulations. X
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amy!!!
DeleteCongratulations! So glad to hear you've been absent for a happy reason! Hope you start feeling better soon so you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!
ReplyDeleteMe too!! Thanks girl! :)
DeleteCongratulations!! That is so exciting. Also, don't worry we just took down our tree this past Sunday. :)
ReplyDeleteThat makes me feel SO much better!! :)
DeleteCongratulations! Can't wait to see what you have in store for this sweet girl's nursery! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Mackenzie! I haven't come up with a thing yet, but as I start to feel better, hopefully something will come to mind! :)
DeleteAs soon as I saw "exciting news" I was thinking, "SHE'S PREGNANT!" and am so excited to see that you indeed are! Congratulations! I had my second daughter last June. ;-) Hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine! And yay for June girls!! (I happen to be one, too!) :)
DeleteCongratulations to you and Jesse! I imagine that as she was feeling acute morning sickness, the lovely Duchess of Cambridge lounged on the sofa in sweats too, so channel your inner royal and follow suit. Also, remember that you are GROWING A HUMAN and that's a huge deal so it's ok to keep your tree up and hang some baby shoes & a pacifier on it and call it the 'baby tree'. And maybe later, if you're feeling it up to it, we'll get to witness the transformation of the baby's room!
ReplyDeleteHaha!! I love that Ashlee...it's now officially a baby tree. Thank you!! xo
DeleteI had a feeling this was coming when you became absent. So exciting! I am 23 weeks and having a girl in June too! Hope you are feeling better now and have a great experience from this point on.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's so awesome! Congrats to you, Alona!!

ReplyDeleteXoxo
Thank you!!
DeleteWonderful news! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThanks Morgan!!
DeleteCONGRATS! You better decorate the nursery with kitty cats!
ReplyDeleteIt's SO tempting! :)
DeleteCongratulations! Your bump is awesomely sweet! I feel your pain on waiting to have one to show, I think I was about 6/7 months gone before mine appeared. Now they have these 'baby on board' badges in London to help expectant mums let others know they are pregnant so they can get a seat on public transport and stuff!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Thanks Tinuke! :)
DeleteCongratulations! Hope the rest is smooth sailing until the wee one arrives :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Shannon!
DeleteCongrats! Such exciting news. I hope you feel better and better as the weeks go by. Tootie is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you, Jesse and Tootie, congratulations. You are right, all the difficult days are truly worth it. All the best, take care of yourself and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWhat good news! Thank you for letting us tag along as you go through all the events of your life! I think you are terrific!
ReplyDeleteAwww...congrats! Just did a "she's having a baby dance"--kinda like a Hammer Dance/the Carlton mashup. You know, in case you need a visual of the craziness. I hope you got all of the yuckies out of the way and it's smooth sailing from now on for you.
ReplyDeleteHa! I love the mashup!!! xo
DeleteYay! Congrats!!!! Can't wait to see the nursery. How's that for pressure haha. I started planning my daughter's nursery the day I found out the sex. I worked so hard and was so proud of myself. Of course, she didn't sleep in there until she was 9 months old ;)
ReplyDeleteMy best to you! I was just talking about your site to a friend yesterday. Great to know you're hanging in there!
ReplyDeleteMay God bless you and your family! Just think, now you'll have a "mini-me"!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your posts immensely and honestly don't know what I would have done without your painting advice and tips!
Congrats, Virginia! Very exciting news!:-)
ReplyDeleteHey! I knew something before other people? This totally ruins my clueless streak! ;) Love ya!
ReplyDeleteYou did indeed! Love ya! :)
DeleteSo happy for you and Jesse, and Tootie too! Hoping you feel better soon, and you just glow, you're so pretty, Virginia!
ReplyDeleteSorry if posted twice... the computer wigged out. Sooooo fun! I'm expecting my first (baby girl!) in April and also didn't show till after 20 weeks. :) Ha ha! I hope it's so fun and that you enjoy every moment, now that the rough patch is over.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your little girl, Holly!!! xo
DeleteTake care of yourself! Such happy news -- a June baby. Daughters are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI have missed your hammer dance and delightful projects. Thank you for sharing your delightful projects.
Thanks so much Anna!!
DeleteCongratulations. You'll not remember any distress once you hold her. I just got the rest of my decorations and tree put away two days ago, and at 68 trust me...I'm not pregnant. I'm sure Tootie will be a big help. We had a pure black cat and when I finally allowed a babysitter so we could go out, she said she would not babysit for us again because Candy just stared at her the whole time...followed her everywhere and tried to get between her and the baby when she held the baby She also attacked to poor mailman because he tried to pull her blanket down so he could see her...that was HER baby girl, lol. I really miss having babies around. Best wishes to all. God bless.
ReplyDeleteLovely news! I hope all goes well from now on.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting for you!!! So much to look forward to! The pregnancy is the easy part! :) lol Hope you'll share more of your journey with us!
ReplyDeleteFabulous news! Congratulations! Love the tree too. :)
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! Congratulations are definitely in order. :)
ReplyDelete24/7 morning sickness, three months of it is even worse. I feel your pain. Mine ended about a month ago! Embrace the food cravings. They more than make up for the morning sickness :) congrats!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! Morning sickness is the worst. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and enjoy. Can't wait to see a nursery!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI have missed you so! And ecstatic it was for such a great reason (the baby, not the morning sickness). Love to all the members of your family! Hang in there and do (or don't) do what you have to do. We're all here for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Patricia!!
DeleteAwww, congrats!!! Best of luck to you 😘👶
ReplyDeleteA beautiful "selfie" of a glowing mother-to-be... congrats to you both!
ReplyDeleteI do 'feel' for you with the problem of prolonged sickness. With my first, it was 24 hours a day for ALL 9 months.... I was miserable and looked it... never the 'glowing' look like you have!... But my delivery was a piece of cake! I shocked doc and nurses with only 3 pushes, so it was definitely worth all I went through those long, miserable months. I hope your delivery is easy peasy, too, because of all you've been through so far. Take good care :)
That's awesome! Thanks Paula!!
DeleteCongratulations! I love your baby bump, you are so cute. I hope you feel great for the rest of your pregnancy. It is such an exciting time!
ReplyDeleteYay! A little DIY-er! Can't wait to see the artwork and projects she comes up with in a few years...with such handy, creative parents! Congrats!
ReplyDeletehooray! congrats! I hope you start feeling better soon :)
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful news!!! Your tiny baby bump is adorable!! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteOMG! OMG! OMG!!! I was wondering when you two were going to decide to become Ah~May~Zing parents... And the new sweetie kitty, she's adorable (by the way, after December 25th the Christmas Tree is known as a "Festive Tree") !! I am beyond thrilled for you guys & I wish you much happiness! May the "barfing" stop, at any time of the day... you are so tiny & you could afford to gain several pounds! I SO wish I could send you my extra weight & I've got quite a few to share! Do What YOU need to do for yourself... We'll wait here for you! All we ask is that you post lots of pix! I send you Blessings of Health, Happiness, Love & Success~
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! How wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI’m 22 weeks pregnant (on Tuesday) with my 3rd. I feel much like you -- sweatpants and showers are like “wow watch out world I did something today, now let me go back to bed.” I’m still dealing with nausea all day long (why on earth did they name it morning sickness!?) -- I didn’t have it so bad or so long with my first two. :( This pregnancy has been rough. I hope we both get to feeling better soon!
You look absolutely adorable. My belly is already like 4 times the size of yours lol.
Hope you feel better soon, Lydia! Sounds like you are all too familiar with the all day pregnancy nausea!! Congrats on your 3rd!! xo
DeleteCongratulations Virginia! I agree that your tiny bump is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen. :) :) What an exciting future ahead and please share all the details along the way with us!
ReplyDeleteWhat exciting news! (and I think Tootie is the prettiest gingery-colored cat I've ever seen!)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You are glowing
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You look positively radiant!

ReplyDeleteAmazing news for you guys, congratulations! :D
ReplyDeleteYay!! Congrats! We have two daughters; you're going to love having a girl. :) 💕
ReplyDeleteSuch exciting news!! My daughter (Evan) just turned 16 months. She’s a handful but doesn't make it impossible for me to work on our new home. Which, by the way, I use your blog for inspiration ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso, Have you ever considered adding a section that keeps an updated list of your favorite products/supplies to work with?
Congratulations! Happy to hear the great news!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I am overjoyed at your blessing!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! So excited for you two!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, I knew it!!! I thought perhaps that was what had you in hiding (not on purpose of course). It definitely gets easier. I promise! We just had our baby girl January 5th after a really long battle of ups and downs (sharing our story currently on www.rosyrill.com) and it's the most amazing experience ever. I can't wait to see what kind of nursery you pull together! I'm sure it'll be absolutely adorable. Wishing you and your husband all of the best!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!! Loved reading about your story...you share it so beautifully. Congratulations on your precious daughter! xo
DeleteCongratulations from France :D
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I also had all day sickness until about week 16. It was like having the flu every day for 3 months. It got better but I still didn't have much energy for the rest of the pregnancy. And then, after my sweet little girl was born last July, I soon felt like my old self. Hang in there! It will all be worth it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Adrienne! Yes, that is EXACTLY how I've felt. It's been so hard, but I know it will totally be worth it! Congratulations on your sweet little girl! xo
DeleteCongratulations, that is awesome news. I'm wishing that the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly for you. Looking forward to seeing your nursery posts :)
ReplyDeleteI just discovered you blog and I'm loving it. I think you are amazing! We want to see some DIY nurseries now!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your baby all the way from Abu Dhabi!!
May God bless you and your little girl. Looking forward to posts on the nursery!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Just had my little guy last May. Stumbled across your blog tonight. It's awesome. I followed you. Definitely looking forward to seeing the nursery. Best of luck with your pregnancy. Stop by and say hello sometime! http://dysfunctionally-functional.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I've been reading your blog for a while now and (yep it's gonna be cheesy😁) but I almost feel like we're friends! So reading this has put the biggest smile on my face, I'm so happy for you girl! You're going to rock it as a mumma bear!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Bree!!
DeleteCongratulations! That is excellent news. :)....So sorry you aren't feeling well....hopefully it will pass soon and you'll be feeling great. Looking forward to more posts from you. :)
ReplyDeleteExcited to go on this journey with you!!
Congrats! You look fantastic! Children bring great inspiration for future diy projects!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!! That's amazing news, even though you have felt horrible. We are expecting our second in June as well. I had a small bup at 21 weeks with my first (second is a whole different story, Ikea check out lady asked me today if I'm due this month!) but its going to get big and beautiful soon!! I can't wait to see what you will do with the nursery! Now you have what to do with your small room attached to your master!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new Baby! I am new to your blog and I am inspired! I am also expecting a baby girl in may. ( my 2nd one) my first is 8 years old. This time around my energy levels are high, even when I do feel tired, I can't stop and have been arranging and re- arranging every single little space in my house and that is how I came across your blog. Yesterday, I began my first big project. I found a rocking chair in a garage sale for $20 but it was light brown and I wAnted a white one. Inspired by the many chairs and furniture you have re done, I decided it to give it a try. I used spray primer, could not find the brand you used at my local HD, so I had to buy a restolium, i believe it is. I also decided to buy a sample of the french grey you used for one of your chairs. In the picture, the chair looks white to me. But now that I see the color it is a light grey. I have not painted it yet, but wanted to ask you if you think I will be ok with his french gray for my rocking chair. The pads will be ligh pink. I would truly appreciate your response. And thanks for inspired so many people! You are awesome!
ReplyDeleteDo you know what is so funny? I JUST read your post yesterday on the 10 different ways you've had your bedroom in the last two years. And I'm now imaging that side room with the baby nursery in it. :-) That would be so perfect!! Congratulations!! <3 Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteThat is such good news! congratulations on the pregnancy to you and Jesse ....all the way from South Africa! I have been following your home renovations and absolutely love everything about them! hope the rest of the pregnancy is super awesome for you. XxCathy
ReplyDeleteIve only just read this! (Been very behind on my blogs!) A massive congratulations to you both, what a little bundle of adventure you've got coming :) xx
ReplyDeleteVirginia, what exciting news! First time commenter on ANY blog EVER! I am the wallflower who is avidly reading along and sharing your pain and joy, but too shy to comment...but I just have to say congrats to you and Jesse. I have really been relating to you recently, as I have been struggling with all day M/S, too, and we lost a beloved fur-baby in November. I feel like you articulate exactly how I feel sometimes! I also have to say I love that you share both the UPS and downs of life. You are much more "real" than some bloggers who post only perfect pictures of their home an family, and leave readers feeling like they are failing at life. And oh my goodness...I can't WAIT to see nursery pics, and the baby pics to follow! Hopefully she gets your amazing smile :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Carrie! I'm so glad you decided to comment, as it truly brought tears to my eyes! I'm so sorry you are struggling with morning sickness, too! I know just how hard it can be. Hang in there! And thank you again! xo
DeleteExciting News! Be Well :0)
