We've finally finished every last detail of our guest bedroom!
Unfortunately I don't have any shocking before pictures to share as I started redoing this room before I began blogging. However, if you take a look at my master bedroom, you'll get a good idea of what this room looked like before.
The first thing I did with this room was paint the old wood trim and paint the walls. I decided to go with a neutral color scheme to make this room calm and relaxing for guests.
I found this gorgeous linen upholstered chair with french script that really adds some glamour to this room. The pewter nailheads add a special touch and work well with the mirror frame and lamps.
Isn't she just lovely?
This mirror was actually a older piece we already had. It was originally a dark gold, and just didn't work with this space, so I decided to spray paint it with my favorite silver spray paint.
For the lighting in this room, I found 2 simple pewter lamps from Ross. Then I hung a pretty chandelier that was similar to the one I diy-ed in the office. The end tables were actually found while thrift store shopping. They were originally bright red, but I painted them with some homemade chalk paint and replaced the hardware.
This headboard was a second-hand piece! I thought about making another upholstered headboard, but decided against it when I found this headboard on craigslist for $20. It was fairly beaten up and was a really ugly color of wood. I patched it up with some wood filler, sanded it down, and gave it the same paint job that the side tables received! I think the end result is totally classic and works perfectly in this room!
For the bedding in this room, I kept it simple with a striped white duvet cover and some simple chic pillow covers.
To add inexpensive artwork to the room, I found antique botanical prints on eBay then framed them in frames I found at a local salvage store. It's one of my favorite ways to add art to a room.
You have such an eye! I can just picture it before with the old white walls and wooden trimming... whoda thunk it plunk. And I love what you did to the mirror! AMAZING!!! -Kwanie
ReplyDeleteWho is this? Kwanie? I know you must be a friend due to the plunk moniker! Well, unknown friend, THANK YOU! :)

ReplyDeleteThank you Ashley! I'm glad you like it! I love the botanicals too!
DeleteLove the chair, the botanicals, and the "pewter" mirror. Just hope that isn't the same mattress you had when you left home. :-)

Gosh, that's something! I absolutely adore the chair and graphics and paint - everything. You made me thinking of my bedroom. I have 2 chairs that need to be reupholstered and I'm going to use this idea to my office room, too. I am thinking about a headboard but I've never done it before.
